註：本扇應為畫家自藏之物，隨意寫之，故未鈐印。畫中，老葉新枝簇擁間，牡丹一朵初綻。所書文字非為題畫，而是從另面〈黃牡丹紀事〉始，內容詳述舊京文壇種種往事，從一九二三年蜀人羅綸以「黃牡丹」謎面、「姚黃」謎底影射「姚華」姓名；如何由此謎引出同名者、並與陳師曾往訪之；師曾如何填〈蝶戀花〉一闋相贈、茫父怎樣次韻唱和；以及師曾從此便取此詞題筆下黃牡丹；五載後，師曾已去，姚氏與邵倬盦提及舊事，兩人再揀師曾「蝶戀花」舊韻追和等。此等文壇掌故，友輩詩畫雅事，茫父以蠅頭小字錄之，洋洋灑灑，其小字以漢隸為範，方圓並濟，愈小愈精，從此扇即可引證。
