上款：「季謀」即區季謀（1896-1988），南海人，擅詩詞、書法，四十年代末遷港，與李研山常相過從，聯吟唱和，關係尤切，屢見其跋於研山畫上。

本幅寫於一九三九年，同年，畫家寫有〈深杏樓深燈夜讀圖卷〉，上具區氏題跋，謂「己卯小寒，與研山翁深杏廔夜讀太白詞有所觸」，或可推知本幅淵源所自。
