予喜養水仙，窗前列數十盆盅，或實沃土，或培綺石。每屆春初，任其滋長，紛披側偃，不假雕飾，葉長盈尺，花醉倚窗，所以崇雅客資畫趣也。今春佳種艱得，所植纔盡十器，比著花皆複瓣，芳馥不足，艷則過之，且葉咸四出，無多寡短長之異，因製成數圖，此其一焉。
丁亥重陽並記於玉山硯齋。非闇于照。
鈐印：「于照之印」、「非闇」、「玉山硯齋」。

來源
西班牙駐華外交官內眷穆夫人舊藏，其丈夫於上世紀三十年代服務於該國駐北平使館，直到一九四九年。蓋其姓為「MUNIZ」，中文轉音曰「穆」，故畫家或有題款，皆曰「穆夫人」。她好中國書畫，故都居停期間，直接向畫家購買或訂製，如齊白石、馬晉、顏伯龍、陸鴻年、蔣兆和等，題材以人物、花鳥、走獸為主。本幅即屬其一，仍保持當年原裝裱，畫背具西班牙文畫題「mariposas」（蝴蝶）及畫家姓名，乃穆夫人親筆，並具其簽名，復以鉛筆簽名於畫面左下角，此為其藏品之特徵，可與編號1495 之蔣兆和〈末路旗人〉相參照。
