註：朱屺瞻早年畫迹流傳極稀，本幅寫於「癸未冬莫」，推算公曆已屆一九四四年初，時滬仍陷敵手，他杜門謝客，拒絕敵偽招誘，作畫自遣。「草堂讀畫」者，背景雖秋葉梧桐，但盤膝展冊，豈非畫家於其「梅花草堂」坐讀之景！其用筆近晚明文人畫風，構圖趨簡，師古中已呈個人面貌，五十風代山水風格即延伸於此。

上鈐「耐歲寒」白文方印，出自齊白石刀下，屬其得白石治印六十方之一。右下角「大觀雅集」印，鮮見鈐於其畫上。是時張中原於滬上主持大觀雅集，書畫家共聚一堂，伸紙作畫，又或合筆，蔚為藝壇盛事。朱氏或參與其中，遂刻此印，偶用於同年作品上，以誌其事。
