The movement is running at time of cataloguing, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. The hunting case has a monogram of Panjtan, or The Five, referring to the five purified ones of Allah: Ali, Muhammad, Fatemeh, Hassan and Hussain. The veneration of these five exalted beings is often visible through calligraphy on artifacts, jewelry and architecture. Due to the aniconism in Islam, art took form through the Arabic language. The present example is a stunning tribute to calligraphy as ornament in Islamic art. The case is in overall very good condition. The engine turned texture is still attractive and crisp. Some light areas of oxidation throughout case and case back. There is an engraved rose motif and area for monogram at the case back. Some material loss to the red enamel.
