exquisitely modelled with hands resting in the mudra of meditation, dhyanamudra, dressed in a plain robe moulded with naturalistic folds opening at the chest and flowing over the folded legs to cover the edge of the seat, wearing simple bracelets and a ribbon tied across a gently swelling belly, the fragment truncated at the chest and below the seat to preserve a single lotus bud 

The middle finger of the right hand is chipped. There are some original firing cracks, especially to the bottom, with a slightly loose rectangular fragment of approx. 4.5 by 2.2 cm with the lotus bud at the base.

此白釉塑像，當為觀音，巧工妙製，與出土例相符，為此著名定窰增添了難得的實證。宋元觀音瓷塑雖夥，然多出景德鎮或龍泉等南方窰口，施青白或粉青釉，罕見北方窰白釉例如斯。定窰遺址近有羅漢頭像殘件出土，與內蒙通遼市博物館藏白瓷羅漢相類，均載於《定窰：優雅なる白の世界，窰址発掘成果展》，大阪市立東洋陶瓷美術館及北京大學考古文博學院，大阪，2013年，編號23及參考圖。定瓷佛教造像極罕，或僅一觀音例曾見於拍場，先後售於倫敦蘇富比，1977年7月5日，編號146及1992年6月9日，編號111。
