The carving is in overall very good condition. The stone is of even pale celadon colour with occasional small clouds or russet inclusions well incorporated in the design. The details are very finely carved and lively rendered. There are some very insignificant natural veining or occasional nibbles to the extremities or along the edges, all most likely originals to the carving.

白玉雕質地勻淨，巧妙捕捉漁人小童互動之景，衣褶柔軟，鮮魚滑溜，魚籃編目，人物表情姿態，均得生動描寫。傳統上，漁翁象徵仕人嚮往之簡樸隱居生活，神話典故中，周文王及武王之軍事謀臣姜子牙，曾隱居漁樵於江上。漁翁、鯉魚之描寫，亦是取材「漁翁得利」俗諺，詼諧逗趣。
