契丹一族，原逐水草而生，以蓄牧為主，狩獵、捕魚為輔。傳統尚金銀等器，經長年與漢文化接觸交流下，也好玉石為飾。所出玉器，展現草原文化之獨特色彩，題材多與其遊牧文化息息相關。契丹人有四時捺鉢的習俗，如春捺鉢釣魚、捕鵝，秋捺鉢射虎、狩鹿，以捺鉢為材入玉，常見「春水」、「秋山」作題者。及後，遼為女真族所滅，金人更迅速漢化，玉作上承遼風，續作草原動物等玉飾，入元以後，此風續延未竭。此青玉鏤雕秋山松鹿鈕，柞樹松間琢三鹿，靈動自然，所飾正是北方松漠風情。專場中另有相關之春水、秋山珮，例如拍品編號196之灰白玉柞樹雙鹿秋山飾。
