拍品資料及來源

Compare carvings carved in a similar flat plaque form, such as one depicting a boy with lotus flowers, in the Qing court collection and still in Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum. Jadeware (II), Hong Kong, 1995, pl. 84; a figure of a boy holding a long stem of lotus standing beside a deer, from the Hei-Chi collection, sold in these rooms, 8th April 2010, lot 2009; and another, modelled with a girl and a boy holding branches of lotus, from the Thomas Wei Seu King collection, included in the exhibition Exquisite Jade Carving: Figures, Animals, Ornaments, University Museum and Art Gallery, University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 1996, cat. no. 9.

The image of a boy carrying a lotus represents the wish for the continuous birth of distinguished sons.
