possibly intended for the game of jacks, each realistically carved in the form of a section of an animal bone, one pierced through on the side and the other on the top for suspension
Condition
The carvings are in overall good condition. They have also been pierced for suspension.

此二圓雕仿羊距骨，有鑽孔，可供穿戴，乃北方少數民族玩具，可當四面骰子來擲。動物距骨，早見於殷商，有刻辭者，但當時或為賜賞之物。至於博藝用距骨，其源則可遠溯古埃及、希臘、羅馬等，在中國北方遼、金兩代盛行，傳世有例，如斷代遼至金兩例，展於《Jades from China》，東亞藝術博物館，巴斯，1994年，編號253-254。後朝也有續作，材質各式各樣，如瑪瑙二例，斷代金至元，《絢麗晶瑩－淘石齋所藏中國古代水晶瑪瑙器》，香港中文大學文物館，香港，2000年，編號267-268。與此二例相類之晚期例，則可參考《中國玉雕：關肇頤醫生藏品》，香港中文大學文物館，香港，2012年，編號313。
