The vase and cover are in overall good condition. There is a ca. 1 cm shallow chip to the edge of one cloud, another ca. 1 cm chip to the right horn of the dragon and a small chip to the anterior left elbow of the dragon. There are fritts to the edges and raised parts of the carving. There are three natural veins extending around the foot of the vase and the base. There is a small white bruise on the cover's knob. The stone is a more celadon colour than the catalogue illustration suggests. The base is glued to a carved wood base, with a ca. 4 cm piece broken off and glued back on.
