〈紅樓夢〉作者曹雪芹名霑,滿洲正白旗族,自其曾祖起三代任江寧織造,後因政治牽連被抄家,後隨家遷居北京,晚年居北京香山一帶,用十年的時光著〈紅樓夢〉一書,從其本人身世的經歷,寫出封建統治階級內部矛盾和分崩離析的過程,洞察力深刻,成為我國古典小說中卓越的文學名著。
壬戌秋八月,劉凌滄繪像,時七十六歲仍客北京也。

-Signs of restoration can be found at the leg of the table, where a small area of paper was removed and replaced with blank paper, and it is suggested that this is an alteration done by the artist. Creases can be found on the painting, which can be improved by restoration. Otherwise, generally in fair to good condition.
