well modeled in the form of a reclining boy cradling the stem and nestled beneath a large lotus leaf, the head resting on the long foliate stem curling around the body, the face with a calm expression detailed with half-closed eyes and a small mouth, all supported on a low plinth carved in relief with stylized water swirls above a raise fillet, covered overall with a soft transparent glaze pooling in the recesses

There are scattered small firing tears to the top and an approx. 1.2 cm bruise to the rim. There is a small glaze flake to the head of the boy. The small aperture on the side of the low plinth with associated short cracks. There are some minor firing imperfections. The surface has been cleaned and polished.

瓷枕者，始創於唐，尤盛於宋，人盡珍之。據明代流行之各類雅活箋記所載，瓷枕除了為睡眠而備，更另有效用。萬曆十九年，晚明高濂初刊《遵生八箋》，曾述「有用磁石為枕……最能明目益睛，至老可讀細書」；又曰：「臞仙制，用紙三大卷，狀如碗，品字相迭，束縛成枕，頭枕上卷，每卷綴以朱簽牙牌，下垂，一曰太清天籙，一曰南極壽書，一曰蓬萊仙籍。用以枕於書窗之下，便作一夢清雅」。由此見，製枕材質、圖紋形制，講究強健體魄，馳騁美夢，調養心神。

枕用瓷材，消夏納涼。北宋詩人張耒曾作《謝黃師是惠碧瓷枕》：「鞏人作枕堅且青，故人贈我消炎蒸。持之入室涼風生，腦寒發冷泥丸驚。」

童子持荷題材，多為婚嫁喜慶所用，參照宋代七夕傳統，孩童模仿佛祖之子磨喝樂，祈求子孫滿堂。瓷枕多見嬰戲圖飾，亦見花鳥、蝴蝶等紋樣，寓意婚姻美滿，又見以瑞獅為形者，意在鎮宅驅邪。
