Sotheby's New York, April 23, 2001, Magnificent Jewels, Property of a Gentleman, lot 375.

In very good condition, with light wear to the mounting. Signed VCA for Van Cleef & Arpels. Inscribed 811476. Stamped 750 for 18 karat yellow gold; with a partial mark on the shank exterior, possibly a French sponsor's mark for VCA; an unidentified lozenge-shaped mark and another unidentified mark on the shank. The sapphire is a richly saturated medium-deep blue with faint reflective silk to one quadrant under direct light; a minor cavity near the apex and several minute abrasions. The two triangular-shaped diamonds weighing in total approximately 1.90 carats are approximately F-G color, VVS clarity. Accompanied by AGL report no. 1084699, dated May 31, 2017, stating that the sapphire is of Ceylon origin, with no indications of heating. Accompanied by Gübelin report no. 17052079, dated June 19 2017, stating that the sapphire is of undeterminable origin. Accompanied by Gübelin report no. 9109029, dated September 24, 1991, stating that the sapphire is of Kashmir origin, with no indications of heating.
