夏陽1932年出生於中國湖南,1951年拜入李仲生門下,開啓夏陽踏入專業畫家之路。1963年出國深造,亦是去義大利投靠蕭勤,為了追求創作上的理想,之後輾轉到巴黎及紐約學習藝術,直至1992年才返國。
縱觀夏陽的藝術創作脈絡,「人」為其主要創作主題,探討著人的存在現象。1964年夏陽發展出其獨特的「毛毛人」畫風,此後的創作歷程與「毛毛人」緊緊相連。《蘇豪漫步5》為夏陽移居紐約1968年後所創造出來的「飄飄人」,畫風趨近於當時已在美國流行的超級寫實(或是照相寫實),但夏陽延續著人的主題,不但畫出超寫實的空間同時也記錄著現實的空間,背景左方玻璃上的塗鴉及右方的廣告看板,清楚的反映著紐約的普普藝術及當地的生活。此時期創造出「飄飄人」,表現著人與環境之間的被動性與無奈感。
