The trunks are in overall good condition. There are characteristic losses, flaking and lifting of the lacquer, particularly along corners, edges and the base. There has been some restoration and consolidation to stabilize and fill in some of these areas of wear and minor losses. There is wear to the gilt and the surface of the lacquer is matte and somewhat granular due to overall craquelure, some of which may be the result of proximity to heat. Both lockplates and missing.
