Condition
Please note, there is a large crack to the lower centre of the shield, extending approximately 15cm from the bottom with approximately 4cm of wood missing from the bottom edge to the front and reverse of the shield. There is a small hole to the bottom proper right of the crack approximately 5mm in diameter. There appears to be some minor restoration to the top of the crack. There are other minor cracks throughout the shield; the longest is approximately 10cm long. There are a few very minor white marks on the reverse and what looks like ”400” or “420” written faintly on the handle of the shield. The front of the shield has excellent glossy patina. Subject to the above, there does not appear to be any visible evidence of repair or restoration, and the damage and wear is consistent with the works use and age. This shield is mounted on and sold with a custom made stand.
