拍品資料及來源

A comparable example in the Art Institute of Chicago is illustrated in Stephen Little, Taoism and the Arts of China, Chicago, 2000, p. 278, no. 95.

This Daoist goddess of Eyesight is notable as it is finely cast with great attention to detail, such as the fine border of the figure’s robes which are embellished with lotus and foliate scrolls. She is the goddess of the eyesight, holding a circular emblem with an eye.  A very similar figure with a dark bronze patina (but with bigger dimensions) is kept in the Art ins🌟titute of Chicago but with the attribute missing in her hands, coming from the gift of Mrs. Samuel G. Rautbord in 1967 (Fig. 1).

Other similar figures were sold such as a gilt-bronze figure in Christie’s Paris, 14th December 2011, lot 25; or the gilt-bronze version with the deity holding the tablet, hu, sold in Christie’s London, 5th November 2013, lot 323. The same phoenix-form headdress can be compared to the figure sold in Sotheby’s New York, 21st March 2015, lot 754 or to the headdress of other deities from the Daoist worship such as the one sold in Christie's New York, 17-18th March 2016, lot 1422 or the deity sold in Christie's Paris, 13th June 2013, lot 78.
