the body and lid engraved with interlacing flowers and split-palmettes against a hatched ground between curving borders, the underside later engraved with scenes of craftsmen and animals, replacement knop
Condition
Most of tinning has been rubbed on the cover, the knop probably a later replacement as indicated by re-soldering to underside (and unlike the usual shape for such covers), three drill holes to cover, some oxidisation, particularly visible to interior, traces of dark substance within interstices, figural engraving to underside later (probably Zand or Qajar period), minor dents and surface scratches as consistent with age and use, as viewed.
