comprising articulated openwork metal settings designed in a foliate manner, set with facet-cut, foil-backed diamonds, featuring carved emeralds in hexagonal mounts, with a tear-drop, en-suite pendant terminating with a hanging large uncarved emerald, enamelled on the reverse in red, green, blue and white with foliate details on each setting, with a metal-thread string, in box

Condition

In good condition overall, some slight discoloration to metal mounts, the hanging emerald possibly re-attached or later attached, the string for wearing slightly worn, does not quite fit into box (this was probably re-used), as viewed. This piece weighs 231.1 grams.

It is interesting to compare this example with a Baleora (necklace) attributed to Jaipur, mid-nineteenth century, illustrated in Krishnan and Kumar 2001, pp.302-3, inv. no.508.
