Condition
Overall measurements: 356cm across the top, 348cm across the bottom, 242cm along the left side, 239cm along the right side. Tapestry reduced in size, and lacking border. The outer yellow and brown banded selvedge is modern and later. There are some areas of old repair, and some small holes with related tapestry sections patched in, which are noticeable on close inspection. For example there is a cut and joined section in the lower right corner. There are some weaknesses to the silks in the highlight areas in places, commensurate with age. Some oxidisation to the browns, and some discolouration. Tapestry reverse is partially lined, with linen around the four edges, and in three vertical strips across the width, revealing the back of the tapestry in the sections in between. It is recommended that all should be protected on the reverse, and that Velcro be re-attached (as there is some presently) across the top for hanging purposes in the future. Decorative tapestry with balanced colour.
