the turned feet on later brass castors

This decorative sofa appears composite in construction. Elements to the carcase seem to be 19th century - this is particularly true of the underside side rails. Similarly the feet appear to be mahogany, but later decorated and have filled areas where previous castors or pads have been installed. There is much new timber though. There are chips and losses to the simulated rosewood surface and losses to gilding. The detachable feet show similar wear from use. The silk upholstery is tired in places with stains and some splits to seams on squab cushion but would benefit form a gentle clean. This piece should be treated as a decorative piece, very much in a Regency style but most probably made up in the last quarter of the 20th century.
