The London-based firm Collingwood & Co. was considered the rival to the Crown Jewellers, Garrard's, fulfilling numerous royal commissions for official gifts, presentation pieces and Orders throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The firm was founded in 1817 by the jeweller Joseph Kitching, and after nearly two centuries as a fixture of London's jewellery industry, finally closed its doors in 2004.
