The brooch of stylized floral design, set with round rubies and diamonds, accented by old European-cut, marquise-shaped and baguette diamonds; the ring of bombé design, set with round rubies and diamonds, size 7.
Condition
In good condition, with little sign of wear to the mountings, and very minor discoloration to the yellow gold in the ring mounting. The brooch mounting stamped PLAT. The ring mounting tests as yellow and white 18 karat gold. The rubies on the brooch weighing a total of approximately 11.20 carats, on the ring approximately 5.00 carats. The rubies in the ring are a medium slightly purplish red color, the rubies on the brooch are slightly deeper and more purplish, moderately to heavily included, some with surface reaching inclusions and cavities visible under 10x magnification. The diamonds on the brooch weighing a total of approximately 7.10 carats (including the two old European-cut diamonds calculated to weigh approximately 1.00 and 0.90 carat), on the ring approximately 3.90 carats; the diamonds are approximately G-H color, VS-SI clarity. The two large old European-cut approximately I-J color, VS-SI clarity, the larger diamond with a surface reaching feather. Overall brooch dimensions approximately 1¾ x 1⅞ inch.
