The censer is in fairly good condition. There are some minute chips and nicks to the fragile extremities, especially to the handles and the lotus finial. The actual colour of the stone is deeper and more attractive than catalogue illustration.

Jade covered incense burners worked in the form of archaic ritual bronze vessels were popular in the Qianlong period, and there are several examples preserved in the Palace Museum, Beijing.
