Condition
This censer and stand is in good condition, but there is a shallow chip to the rim of the stand (6mm by 4mm), and some firing imperfection to one side of Lion's face.

本品製作精巧，形象栩栩如生，既刻畫瑞獅靈動嬉戲，亦顯其威武有神。瑞獅象徵雄壯威猛，常見於工藝，本品刻畫瑞獅風格與狻猊相關。傳說龍生九子，狻猊乃其一，喜煙，故此形像多現於瓷製或青銅香爐。 宋代達官貴人皆學識廣博，對當時文藝影響甚深。因文人墨客以薰燒焚香為雅，認為有助創思、消除煩悶，故此商賈官員對焚香亦產生興趣，藝匠因而製作各式精美香爐，作為陳設，本品正屬一例。
精細如本品，因窰燒時極易變形故甚為珍罕，可比較青白造像數例，如一件較小之帶蓋瑞獅香爐，底座呈圓柱形，座身飾高浮雕獸面紋，曾展於《Early Chinese Ceramics. An American Private Collection》，J. J. Lally & Co.，紐約，2005年，編號37；另比一例，尺寸較大，帶蓮座，售於紐約蘇富比2012年9月11日，編號139。
