拍品資料及來源

A critical history of mathematics, from its primitive beginnings down to modern times, augmenting a critique of Euclid and Theon of Alexandria presented in the author's Prooemium mathematicum (1567) with a dense (books 6-31, 175 quarto pages) proposition-by-proposition critique of the Elements. In Ramus' view, the unintelligibility of the Elements was the reason that mathematics was held in low esteem by scholars, and the public at large.
