Condition
In overall good condition. The panel is cradled and flat. The paint surface is clean and the varnish is clear and even. There are two lines of paint loss, one horizontal measuring circa 3cm. upper left, and one vertical measuring circa 2cm. in the upper right-hand corner. There is some visible retouching, most notably along what appear to be two horizontal panel joins which run the length of the central third of the panel. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a milky varnish underneath which these are visible, as well as further retouchings scattered throughout the lower right quadrant and particularly surrounding the brass jug, a horizontal line circa 10cm. along the centre of the upper edge, around the aforementioned areas of paint loss, and lastly small retouchings scattered throughout the composition. Offered in a parcel gilt frame in very good condition.
