拍品資料及來源

The largest of Georges Braque’s ten Cubist prints, Fox represents the local English bar favoured by Paris’ Cubist painters and poets.  Text reading “Old Tom Gin” points to the establishment’s drink of choice, while the subtle inclusion of a playing card with a heart hints at the raucous atmosphere.  Commissioned by the art dealer Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler in 1911, Fox and another drypoint, Job, were published immediately.  The eight remaining Cubist intaglio works were not published until after the Museum of Modern Art’s Braque retrospective in 1948.
