Condition
Very good condition overall. Chips, scratches, marks and abrasions throughout consistent with the object’s age and use within the culture. Multiple small insect holes scattered throughout and larger areas of insect damage to reverse. Heavy wear to the top edge. To the front, one hairline crack to the centre at the top approximately 5cm long, another two cracks to the centre both approximately 5cm long. Many vertical cracks to reverse, and subsequent minor splitting of the wood in some areas. Two small modern hooks and two modern nails in reverse for hanging. Dark patina, flaking and encrusted in places. Label bearing Elizabeth Pryce collection inv. no. EP-201 on reverse of shield. "FA450" and "Simbai" hand written in white on reverse.
