拍品資料及來源

A Bombilla, in Spanish and Portuguese, is an essential tool in the consmumption of mate infusions. Acting as both a straw and sieve, it filters out the herbs and powders in the drinking process. The first examples were known to have been used by the Guarani tribe before they were adapated in the 17th and 18th centuries by Jesuit craftsmen. An example with a similar basket-shaped filter can be found in Silbershatze aus Sudamerika 1700-1900, Munich, 1991, pg. 292-294, no. 382.
