The leather is original; its surfaces with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, dents, abrasions, marks, instances of paint residue, areas of rubbing and discoloration, and surface soiling, all consistent with age and use and mostly concentrated to the tabletop. The tabletop with some areas of more prominent discolorations, the largest isolated area measuring approximately 3 3/8 in. in diameter. The tabletop also with four very minor instances where the leather has been worn to partially reveal the wooden backing underneath, the largest area of wear measuring approximately 1/8 x 7/8 in. The leather to the legs in very good original condition. The table with a beautiful knotty fir stretcher which is not visible in the catalogue illustration. The surfaces of the fir stretcher with very minor scattered scratches and minor signs of wear, consistent with age and gentle use. There are natural knots and irregularities in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir. The central burl with a slightly deeper scratch measuring approximately ½ in. The legs with all original brass tacks to the decorative motifs intact and two tacks to the black leather of the legs missing. The brass tacks overall with some minor surface scratches and areas of rubbing, consistent with age and use. A rare trestle form in a vibrant cherry-red, the piece presents with creative decorative elements in brass and wood.
