Condition

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, dents, minor areas of rubbing, and some surface soiling concentrated to the recesses of the design, all consistent with age and gentle use. There are natural knots, irregularities, and separations in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir, which have been reinforced with wood infill in a few areas by Molesworth at the time of production. The top tier of one of the stands appears to have been reglued for reinforcement, with some glue residue to the surrounding area of the body, not visible when the stand is upright, and that area with some loss to the infill in the grain in one instance, the loss measuring approximately 2 ½ in. The leather is replaced in the early 1990s by Terry Winchell; its surfaces with scattered scratches, minor instances of adhesive residue, all minor and consistent with age. The brass tacks with some minor surface scratches and areas of rubbing, not visually distracting and consistent with age and gentle use. A rare and functional form which pairs nicely with the upholstered blue and white armchairs (lot 34)
