An account of the search for the lost Franklin Expedition (1845-). The search party managed to discover artefacts, a skeleton and a note left on King William Island with details about the fate of the Franklin Expedition: "April 25, 1848. - H.M. ships 'Terror' and 'Erebus' were deserted on 22nd April... the total loss by deaths in this expedition has been to this date 9 officers and 15 men". The entire expedition of 129 men had in actuality perished.
