Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade is executed in a rich blue palette, comprising vigorously mottled cobalt, sapphire and cornflower blue glass with occasional yellow, orange and green striations in the background passages, accented by vibrant azure blue cabochons. The background passages beneath the dragonfly heads transitions to a rich blue-green. The dragonfly wings are executed in vivid blue and violet glass with inflections of red, magenta, lilac and powder blue, which is beautifully offset by the predominantly yellow, orange and green dragonfly bodies. The shade with approximately 8 hairline cracks dispersed throughout, stable. The etched filigree overlay on the wings is masterfully executed and appears entirely intact and undisturbed with some minor oxidation and light surface soiling beneath. The base is in very good condition and displays a rich russet brown patina with minor surface scratches, abrasions, and some extremely minor scattered instances of oxidation consistent with age and gentle use. One isolated area on the outer edge of the foot with some light rubbing to the patina, not visually distracting. The wheel and riser appear to be later replacements. With period sockets and paddle switches. With a period finial with threaded pin in very good condition with minor surface scratches, abrasions, and a shallow dent, not visually distracting. An exceptional example of the firm’s iconic Dragonfly model displaying brilliant coloration. When viewed in person the shade is incredibly striking and shows tremendous depth and radiance to the glass.
