Applied with black enamel, the lid decorated with a thistle motif, the prickles set with brilliant-cut diamonds, opening to reveal a mirror and power compartment, measuring approximately 73 x 73 x 12mm, signed Chanel and Goossens, French assay marks and maker's mark for Goosens.

Interior signed Chanel and Goossens, inscribed 'Exemplaire unique crée pour le M.D.G.A.V Paris Septembre 1989'. Stamped with French assay mark for 18 carat gold and maker's mark for Goosens. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 0.70-0.90 carats. Gross weight approximately 217 grams. Overall condition good.

Inscribed to the interior 'Exemplaire unique crée pour le M.D.G.A.V Paris Septembre 1989'. Robert Goossens , or 'Monsieur Bijou', was a French jeweller who worked closely with major fashion houses such as Dior, Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent and began collaborating with Coco Chanel in 1953, creating jewellery to complement her fashion designs. After Coco Chanel's death, he collaborated with her successor Karl Lagerfeld throughout the 1980s and 90s, and the company was acquired by Chanel in 2005 where it continues to be run by the Goossens family.
