Condition
Executed on cream laid paper, not laid down, and hinged to the mount at two places along the upper edge. The sheet is slightly time stained. There is a small watermark along the lower left edge. There are two minor tears running up form the lower edge, measuring approximately 0.5cm, a further tear running from the center of the left edge measuring approx 1.5cm. and a tear running from the center of the upper edge. There are flattened creases in the upper left and right corner and a horizontal flattened crease to the center of the sheet. There is some tape residue intermittently along the edges to the verso of the sheet. There is a repaired tear to the centre of the right edge. Overall this work is in good condition.

In 1968 Salvador Dalí appeared in a brilliantly bizarre commercial for the rapidly expanding French chocolatier Lanvin. In the short clip Dalí proclaims Je suis fou de chocolat Lanvin! whilst his iconic moustache curls up in response. The present work appears to be a sketch for said commercial, featuring prominently the artist's moustache and conveying a sense of the surrealist madness which lent the scene its brilliance.
