And this bottle was the best 1983 I have ever had, gorgeous in its freshness and citric beauty. There is a real peachiness to it, with silky purity and endless dimension of flavour. Some 1983s have a tarry botrytis element, but here there is zingy, zesty fruit to match the sweetness, with a finish that defies the clock.
