A princess and her handmaidens are depicted watching the approaching monsoon storm with a mixture of apprehension and relief at the start of the rainy season during the month of Shr𓄧avana (July-August). The composition appears to illustrate the following verse from the Kavipriya by Keshavdas:
'The lightnin💙g is restless as it flashes in the turbulent clouds.
The peacocks announce the mating of earth ꦡaඣnd sky with their shrill cries.
All lovers meet in the month of Shravana -♍ so then why forsake me my love?'
