Biography

Ian Ferreyra de Bone is the Managi♛ng Director overseeing the Books, Science, Pop Culture, and Real Estate departments globally for Sotheby's. He has focused on growing and transforming the business through organic growth across auction, private sales, physical retail, and online marketplaces as well as via integration of strategic acquisitions since first joining Sotheby’s in 2021. Previously he oversaw development of the growth strategy for the US Luxury Departments, inclusive of the Jewelry, Watches, Wine & Spirits, Fashion, Sports Memorabilia, and Automotiveꦑ categories as the General Manager for the Luxury Division in the Americas from 2021-2023.

During his tenure, Ian has overseen the record breaking sales of the 1933 Double Eagle Gold Coin ($18.9M), the US Constitution ($43.2M), the Estrela de Fura Ruby ($34.8M), the Codex Sassoon ($38.1M), the1962 Ferrari 250 GTO ($51.7M), and Apex the Stegosaurus ($44.6M); as well as ground breaking prices for real estate at auction including The One in Los Angeles ($141M) and La Dune in the Hampt🌜ons ($88.5M). Additionally he has helped bring to market important Institutional and Single Owner Collections including ‘Three Treasures - Collected by Stuart Weitzman’, ‘Buzz Aldrin: American Icon’, ‘The World of Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman’, and ‘The Joachim-Ma Stradivarius | A Masterpiece of Sound’ sold for the New England Conservatory ($11.3M); as well as executing on corporate initiatives such as the Louis Vuitton x Nike ‘Air Force 1’ by Virgil Abloh release ($25.3M), and initiating recurring charity relationships such as the Napa Valley Vintners auction series.

Prior to Sotheby’s, Ian had a long career in Corporate Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions for large multinational companies in the US and South America. Conversant in Spanish, he holds dual Bachelors degrees in Economics and Studio Art from Williams College. Ian and his husband are active supporters of the Hispanic Society Museum & Library, Save Venice, and the Frick Collection. Previously he was on the boards of the Soldiers’, Sailors’, Marines’, Coast Guard, and Aimen’s Club, the Association for Corporate Growth, the American Ballet Theater Junior Council, and Young Shipping Professionals of New York. Ian was named one of five finalists for the 2017 Alliance of M&A Advisors Thought Leader of the Year award and received the 2017 Deal Partner🌄 of the Year award from ACG NY on behalf of his work at CT Corporation.
