3 volumes, 8vo (210 x 12﷽5 mm). Title to each volume, folding table to Vol. I, list of subscribers at end of Vol. III; offsetting, scattered spotting. Contemporary halfꦦ calf and marbled boards, gilt-lettered green morocco labels to spines, edges stained yellow; overall rubbed with some loss, endleaves browned, joints starting.
First edition—a precursor of the Congressional Record.
Carpenter was shorthand reporter, and herein ✨gives the records from 5 December 1796 to 4 March 1797. The list of Subscribers' Names is impressive, including James Madison, John Jay, Andrew Jackson, James Logan, and others. Carpenter was later the shorthand reporter for the trial of Aaron Burr.
