Title-page with printed illustration of the Seal of the Cherokee Nation, appendix and indexes at end; ex-library, with purple stamp and a little soiling to title-page, a few marks in 📖pencil, occasional stray spots. In quarter calf antique, marbled boards, spine with black morocco label lettered gilt, tan endpapers; very light rubbing to binding, soiling to top edge, spots to bottom and fore-edge.

The present volume was assembled by W.P. Boudinot, D.H. Ross, and J.A. Scales, who were members of the same commission responsible for codifying the laws (Hargrett). Containing the "act of the union, the constitution and amendments, a civ꧑il and criminal code in force after November 1, 1875, and general laws not inconsistent with the code; the compܫact of 1843 with the Creeks and Osage, the treaty of 1867 with the Delawares, and the agreement of 1869 with the Shawnee" (Hargrett).

Hargrett further notes that D.H. Ross, also known as "Ahuñma (1822–1871), in his youth was an enthusiastic marksman and bear hunter, was a nephew of Principal Chief John Ross and long a prominent Cherokee merchant. He was several times editor of the Advocate" (Hargrett).

An edition o𓆉f the same꧙ volume was also printed in Cherokee.
