Sealed mark of Miwa Tomisaburo 

Meiji period, late 19th century


the oviform vase with short neck and tapering foot, decorated in various coloured enamels and thicknesses of gold wire on a dark blue ground, with sparrows among entwined cherry and maple trees, the bark of the cherry tree intricately delineated in gold wire and musen [wireless] ꧙enamels, the reverse with two young maple trees, bordered with lappets with geometric and floral motifs, sealed mar🀅k of Miwa Tomisaburo, silvered mounts 

20 cm., 7⅞ in. high

Miwa Tomisaburo was awarded a silver medal at the 1905 Exposition Universelle de Liège and exhibited at the 1910 Japan Britain Exhibition in London.
