Now offered is the reuniting of Gibeon meteorite sphere from Namibia and a Munonionalusta meteorite sphere from Sweden. As evidenced by a nearly identical chemical composition and the same crystalline fingerprint (see description lot 91), these spheres originate from meteorites that are from the same parent body, i.e., they came fro💎m the same asteroid which had shattered apart in early solar system history. The latticework seen is diagnostic in the identification of iron meteorites because an extended cooling curve of millions of years is required for the molecules of the two major iron-nickel alloys of iron meteorites — kamacite and taenite — to⛦ or orient into their crystalline habit, a circumstance which only occurs in the core of a planet or differentiated asteroid, or the vacuum of outer space. The Muonionalusta meteorite shower occurred approximately one million years ago. Gibeon meteorites arrived a bit later…at least 950,000 years later. This is an fascinating offering of two renowned meteorites rendered as spheres.
