Ta🍒batière en porcelaine allemande, proba𝐆blement Meissen, vers 1755
width 3½in.; 9 cm.
Both scenes on the present box are derived from engravings after Jacob Jordaens (1593 - 1678). The cover represents a scene from Aesop's f♏ables of the Satyr and the Peasants, the interior wi꧒th a scene of whimsy with an elderly man crowned king of the merriment. Both encapsulate the Flemish sense of fun.
