binding: Contemporary Parisian smooth calf with gilt arabesque oval centerpiece with double gilt fillet border (154 x 107 mm), flat spine richly gilt, gilt edges, small gilt armorial of the Duke of Sutherland on lower cover [British Armorial Bindings stamp 6]. (Both joints cracked, upper joint weak, s൲pine slightly chipped and creased, corners rubbed.)
